Army Welfare Housing Organisation (AWHO)
Establishment of AWHO
AWHO was established in 1978 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. Being an autonomous body, it is not an instrument of the State and does not fall under the Ministry of Defence.
Objective
The objective of AWHO to provide structurally sound, economically viable and functionally efficient Dwelling Units/Developed Plots to desirous Serving/ Retired members of Army and Veer Naries on a No Profit, No Loss basis in selected/ Popular stations.
Basic Charter
The Basic Charter of AWHO flows from the following three statements:
- 1Functions on a self-financing system and on a 'NO PROFIT NO LOSS' basis.
- 2AWHO is a society and not an instrument of the State.
- 3Administrative and financial control vests in the Board of Governors (BoG) and the Executive Committee (ECM).

Eligibility
Serving and retired Army personnel (Officers, JCOs, Other Ranks and their Veer Naris). Selected Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard personnel are also accommodated depending on project vacancies.
