Army Welfare Housing Organisation (AWHO) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. We handle your data in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made thereunder.

AWHO is a welfare body dedicated to providing affordable, quality housing to serving and retired personnel of the Indian Armed Forces, Paramilitary Forces and Government Services, registered under the Societies Registration Act. For the purpose of the DPDP Act, AWHO acts as the Data Fiduciary that determines the purpose and means of processing your personal data.

We collect information that you provide to us directly, information collected automatically, and information received from lawful third-party or government sources.

2.1 Information You Provide

Name, rank, service number and category (Armed Forces / Paramilitary / Central or State Government / PSU)
Contact details — email address, mobile number and postal / correspondence address
Identity and financial details — Aadhaar number, PAN, and bank account details for allotment, payment and withdrawal purposes
Documents you upload — photograph, cancelled cheque, service or pension certificate, and other supporting documents
Any information you share when you contact us, raise a query, or respond to a demand / inclination survey

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Technical data such as IP address, browser type, operating system and device information
Usage data such as pages visited, links clicked and time spent, collected through cookies and similar technologies

2.3 Information From Other Sources

We may receive verification-related information from records maintained by defence, government or banking authorities, strictly for the purpose of confirming your eligibility.

3. How We Use Your Information

We process your personal data only for lawful and specified purposes, including:

Processing your registration, eligibility verification, allotment and related housing services
Conducting demand and inclination surveys for proposed housing projects
Handling payments, demands, withdrawal and financial reconciliation
Communicating important updates, notices and responses to your queries
Meeting legal, regulatory and audit obligations, and preventing fraud or misuse

Where required by the DPDP Act, we process your data on the basis of your consent or for legitimate uses permitted under the law. You may withdraw your consent at any time, as described in Section 7.

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy or as required by applicable law, after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.

Subject to the DPDP Act, 2023, you have the right to:

Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is processed
Request correction, completion or updating of inaccurate or incomplete data
Request erasure of your personal data where it is no longer required
Withdraw consent previously given, without affecting processing already carried out
Nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity
Register a grievance regarding the handling of your personal data

8. Children's Data

Where processing involves the data of a child (a person below 18 years of age) or a person with a lawful guardian, we obtain verifiable consent from the parent or guardian and do not carry out any processing that is detrimental to the well-being of the child, as required under the DPDP Act.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law or our practices. The revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review it periodically.
